West 12 celebrates success in the Loo of the Year Awards
Date: 10 Jan 2009
Management at West 12 Shopping Centre is flushed with pride as it celebrates winning, not just one, but two categories in the annual ‘Loo of the Year Award’.
The public toilets in the Centre were given an overall grade of 4 Stars, and the ‘Attendant of the Year Award’ for providing a high level of commitment to a vital public service.
Jason King, Centre Manager at West 12, said: “Our toilets are staffed by a brilliant team who fully deserve the award. There were over 1700 entries nationwide, so we are delighted to have achieved such success. The scheme, recognises standard setters for those of us who provide ‘away from home’ manned facilities for the convenience of our customers.”
West 12 Shopping is justifiably proud of its public conveniences, which were opened in November 2007. “Before this, Shepherd’s Bush suffered from a distinct lack of public toilets, so they were built to satisfy a local requirement,” said Jason King. “There is a modest charge for using the facilities so that the highest standard of hygiene and quality of service is continued. The facilities have been fitted out with the best quality appliances and to ensure we help the environment as much as possible, we have a water control system and speed hand-driers rather than paper towels. We also have a ‘kiddies loo’, which ties in well with our little shopper stay safe scheme and is handy for our younger customers.”
